City: Monterey (CA)
Event: Street capture

This pristine targa was parked in Cannery Row, Monterey as I wandered past. It's a 1967 911S soft window targa. The first series of targas had a zip-out plastic rear window, so you could drive roof on & window in, roof on & window out, roof off and window off, roof off & window in.....and so on. This was the top of the line Porsche of its day. It would have been extremely desirable and quite expensive.I had a quick chat with the owner. He'd driven down from Oregon with the wife, and 2 little kids in the back, as it should be. Cars are to be used, not cossetted away.

Wow, beautiful shots and story, O_S. Some of the photos look like they could be in a Porsche coffee table book. Love the cover shot. It reminded me of the 1988 911 Turbo cabriolet I had the chance to drive. You could leave the top up, and just zip down the rear plastic window to still here the flat-6 turbo barking behind your head.
