Porsche is well-known for their turbocharged cars, both road and race, lesser-known for their use of turbos in aviation engines. Supercharging is not so much associated with Porsche. This early model 911 runs a 3 litre engine with a supercharger. It was built by a member of the Porsche Club of New South Wales, Australia. Many of the components were fabricated by the owner/builder for this car, simply because it had never been done before. It is regularly raced at Club events and is as quick as the GT3s. The '911K' badging refers to "Kompressor", the German word for supercharger. A real credit to to the owner/builder. (That's him in the driver's seat.)

mgray100 : I contacted the owner re your query, and here's his reply - "Best result was 205 kW [275 hp] at the rear wheels and based on the std conversion of 1.32 this means 271 kW aye engine. Car weighs 1118 kg. The weight is due to full welded cage 55kg, GT3 discs and brakes up front 10 kg and supercharger and intercooler 16 kg. Extra oil cooler and hoses 8 kg. Total 89 kg. Thus shell etc is a nett 1029. Remember the 3.0 SC motor with 915 box is a lot heavier than the orig 2.2 with mag case and mag 901 box." Mark.

That's an awesome power to weight ratio. 275 hp X 1.32 = 363 hp. 1118kg X 2.2 = 2460 lbs. 363 hp to move 2460 lbs -> 2460 lb / 363 = 6.78 lbs per horsepower.

To give some perspective on how good that is, an STi weighs 3400 lbs and has 305 hp -> 3400 / 305 = 11.15 lbs per horsepower. A 997 Turbo weighs 3500 lbs and has 480 hp -> 3500 / 480 = 7.29 lbs per horsepower. This thing has better power to weight than a new Porsche 911 Turbo! AND it is a full 1000 lbs Lighter!  SICK!

The owner / builder sounds like a genius.
