I've seen this car around town for a few years, but this is the first time I've photographed it. The Insight was introduced to the US market months before the Prius, but it's by no means the first hybrid. That honour goes to the Lohner-Porsche Mixte from 1899, designed by Dr Porsche. Yes, THAT Dr Porsche. The car had electric motors in each wheel. The production version had 1.8 tonnes of batteries, whereas the Insight weighs 838 kilos.
