Album details

Capture Date: Nov. 4, 2009
City: Las Vegas (NV)
Event: 2009 SEMA Show
Pagani Zonda R with the engine cover removed at the 2009 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. This was the first time I have ever seen a Pagani! The carbon fiber was flawless and just so beautiful looking with all the different ribbon weaves between assembled parts. The engine bay as you can see is a work of art and an absolute engineering masterpiece. Plaques on the car indicate Gearbox n.02 and Zonda R n.00 R00065.

Incredible Photo's!!! Do you use a camera which gives each photo a circular look?

That effect is due to taking pictures close up at 16mm (wide angle lens) at f/2.8 :)

SICK. Is this car going to be driven / tracked anywhere in the U.S. ?

Sorry WD, I need more photos. Please do better next time. If you look up 'completely insane' in the dictionary you'll find a picture of this car. Have you seen this video?

V, I talked to the Pirelli crew and they told me the car was going straight back to the other side of the pond after the show. LOL, OS... thanks for the video somehow I missed this!

WhipD, I think this crazy thing went straight to the MPH show in London, I was there (but, alas, no pics as i left my phone in the pub afterwards!). It must have taken them an age to match up all the carbon panels, seeing as all the carbon weave seems to be manufactured as one big piece. Awesome thing! You know Horatio got in trouble with the local cops for that little stunt on the vid (on road, slick tyres, no documents) but i think he got away with it! Cops in Modena must be kinda used to it by now!

Just wanted to let you know that the "R00065" code is not a part of the VIN of this car, it's the code of the single component (the plate in this case). If you could check, every other component has a "R00xxx" code stamped on it. The car featured at the MPH show shouldn't be the same as that one had a ceramic exhaust while this has a titanium/steel exhaust so to lower the sound and allow Pagani to test the car ON THE ROAD with a test plate. Cheers, The Italian Junkyard

I thought there was only one in the world? You are right re the exhausts - the one in London's were Inconel coated up to the last 6 inched of pipe, whereas these are bare titanium. Very knowledgeable, Mr Junkyard!

There's a write-up of Horatio getting in trouble with the Carabinieri in Evo Magazine (the editor has a C12 S and is good chums with Mr Pagani) - there certainly was no test plate, nor was there a mounting point for one.

The got a fine, nothing special, because the car wasn't indeed registered as road legal or as a prototype. At that time, they didn't have the titanium exhausts. The ceramic one got them into troubles even when testing the car at the Top Gear track, it was that loud. After that "meeting" with the local police (Carabinieri are the military police, while this Vigili Urbani are just in charge of each town, like a sheriff I suppose), they adopted the new exhaust and also registered the car as a prototype, as you can see here: http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4383/img6447t.jpg This is the same car as the one featured at SEMA. Right now there are no less than 5 cars, albeit one was spotted only during early stage of building back in May 2009. Surely 4 cars were built, only one delivered to my knowledge. They planned to built 12/16 cars, but many customers stepped back due to the crisis, it is rumored. It helps to live 12 km from the factory ;)
