Martini Porsche 935 Baby at Mt Panorama circuit Bathurst Australia - 1

Album details

Capture Date: Apr. 5, 2010
City: Bathurst Australia
Event: Festival of Sports Cars

This is a 1.4 litre Martini Porsche 935 from 1977. Yes, one point four litres. 370bhp from 1.4 litres. And only 750 kilos. Not bad. It was built to run in the under 2 litre class of the German Race Sport Championship. It only raced twice, and it won once. It's been in the Museum since then. It's known as the "Baby" because of its tiny little engine.

1.4LT with 370bhp, it's hard to beat Porsche engineering!

Very interesting indeed, I had no idea this car existed (even if the spec sheet reads a bit like a Renault 5 Maxi, hehehee). Fantastic pics too mate... your angles are, as ever, hugely visually arresting - I clicked zoom on every single one.

Thanks James, always nice to get some feedback. And yes, what a great little car. Very lucky to have it down here in the colonies, and to be able to get so close to it and to see it run on the track.

its in the new issue(august) of "wheels" magazine. apparently the 935 is faster to 100 kmh than the GT1 and is more powerful whilst weighing considerably less!

Ah thanks for that. I'll get a copy tomorrow. Michael Stahl was driving it at Bathurst so I guess he wrote the article.

Not to be a spoilsport but I don't believe that is "The Baby". The Baby had its front cooler opening blocked off. All the coolers were moved back to the rear fenders. There was only one built and it was #40. It lives in the factory museum.

I'm guessing this is a replica someone created because the Baby's single exhaust exited from the side of the left rear fender, not out the back.
