Back in the day, before the Carrera badge was devalued by being slapped on the back of every 911, there was a range of 911s. You could choose between, in ascending order, a 911T, 911E or 911S. This beautiful 911T is now 42 years old, and has certainly aged gracefully. It has a 2 litre flat 6, running 2 triple choke Weber carbies. It's a real delight to drive, having the true sports car attributes of no power steering, no power brakes, 3 pedals, very light weight and a truly fantastic sound. The steering has a directness that cars just don't have any more, with the possible exception of the Elise/Exige. This is not a car where you just set the cruise control and zone out. It has to be driven every inch of the way, in the same way that a motorcycle does. And it rewards the driver with real feedback, it's a wonderful old thing to drive. There are plenty of newer cars that are faster, but that's really not the point, is it? The car sees regular track time, just as Ferry & Butzi intended. It belongs to a mate of mine, who tragically also owns the green GT3RS. And 3 other Porsches.
