Great Ocean Road Porsche Drive - 3

Album details

Capture Date: Nov. 8, 2007
City: Sydney (NSW)

In Nov 2007 a large number of Porsches drove in a 4 day charity event on the Great Ocean Rd in Victoria, Australia. It's one of the world's great driving roads, similar in character to PCH in California. The road was closed for the first time ever for us to use without any other traffic, a unique privilege. The event raised money for the local hospital, which was an incentive for the authorities to allow the event to happen. There were touring stages, special stages, motorkhanas, observation runs, regularity runs, formal dinners...a wonderful but exhausting 4 days. These photos give some idea of the flavour of the event. Some of these shots were taken through the windscreen while driving, so they may appear a bit hazy.

I love the first 3 shots. What were some of your favourite cars in that group, Oliver?

Well, I do have a soft spot for the GT3. I only driven one, but, wow, what a car.

Me too. I have serious respect for the GT3. It is one of the best purest modern-day sportscars, imho. It seems to be more popular with purists than the more powerful GT2.
