Elfin Type 5

If you feel like building your own car, why not an Elfin Type 5? Harking back to Lotus's roots, Elfin presents its update on the original 7, which was also a DIY project. It runs the GM Ecotec engine as found in the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Redline, but it weighs 750 kilos. So, with nearly 200 kw (260bhp), it goes much better. Looks better too. The only thing that I can find wrong with it, is that there isn't one in my garage. It's priced here at about the same as an RX-8.

2007 Elfin MS8 Streamliner

I must admit to pinching this quote from another site :'Just as you'd expect from Australia, the Elfin Streamliner combines way too much engine and barely enough car. ' It just seemed to appropriate to omit. The Elfin MS8 uses an 5.7 litre LS1 engine giving 330 BHP. That's just the standard offering though, you can have 450BHP if you must. It weighs 2,426 pounds (1100 kilos), so it has the power to weight of a supercar. This one was at the Phillip Island historic meeting in Australia in March 2007. I've never seen another one.
