If you feel like building your own car, why not an Elfin Type 5? Harking back to Lotus's roots, Elfin presents its update on the original 7, which was also a DIY project. It runs the GM Ecotec engine as found in the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Redline, but it weighs 750 kilos. So, with nearly 200 kw (260bhp), it goes much better. Looks better too. The only thing that I can find wrong with it, is that there isn't one in my garage. It's priced here at about the same as an RX-8.
