Cheap Porsche 997 Cabriolet - 3

Album details

Capture Date: Aug. 8, 2009
City: Monterey (CA)
Event: Dealer Visit

I took these at Porsche Monterey, California back in August last year. Very depressing for we Aussies. Down here we have the privilege of paying to our governments a selection of penalties if we dare to buy a nice car.....luxury car tax, import duties, sales tax, goods and services tax on the car AND the insurance, stamp duty on the registration....and probably some others I've forgotten. So this car would cost the best part of AUD $250,000. Which is a long way from a direct dollar conversion from the US price. We live in a great country, but sometimes . . . . . . Grrrrrr.

Like they pay Boxster money for a 911 Turbo in the US!

Wow I thought we had it bad in England! We pay about £80k for a new C2S Cabrio, which works out as AUD $145k, or roughly half what you guys pay in Oz after you've added a few options. That's an unbelievable price hike! This Cabrio still works out about £30k(AU $54k) cheaper than in the UK, but a whopping AUD $167k (£92k, US$148k) cheaper than in Australia. If Australia were a nuclear power and I was an American, I'd be worried........
