It's a bit rapper, but wow, what a car. Does anyone remember the AMG Hammer from back in the 80s? I'd guess it's the car that started the tuner trend of BMF (Big Mutha F...) engines in sedans. It was a sensation back then. You could have up to 375bhp, which was stratospheric in the 80s.

Yeah the Hammer was awesome! Wish the W124 500E came to Oz back then! I would pick one up now for sure!

I've seen a few E500s here, must be private imports. The flared front guards are the giveaway.

I love the AMG Hammer - That and the Ruf Yellowbird are the two most memorable tuner cars I remember seeing in magazines in the 80s. The 500Es were awesome too - A fast Benz assembled by Porsche with a low stiff suspension and those flared fenders --- heeeelll yeaaah.

I saw an 500E in brand new condition at the Mercedes Dealer in Berlin, I'll post some pix!
