I still don't quite get the X6. I do however fully get 550bhp so I guess I'll forgive our chums at München!

I fully get the X6. Firstly it has high suspension ( X6M ground clearance=7.8 inches ) even though the M trim is half an inch lower than the regular X6 ( 8.3 inches clearance ). This means you have an enhanced view of the road and it is harder for vehicles to obscure vision. Secondly, it is harder to lose your exhaust on uneven roads and light off-roading. Thirdly, the remarkable avant-garde shape. Most SUVs look like boxes on wheels. BMW were brave enough to do something refreshingly different. The X6 is a young athlete, the so-called boxes are middle-aged and passed it! The X6M is a more virile agressive-looking version of the X6. Performance and handling are improved. It is for driving enthusiasts and gives an alternative to low suspension, arse-on-the-ground, exhaust-in-nostrils sports cars. Viva la X6!
