Wonderful old Alfa Romeos

Alfa Romeo has a long & proud motorsport heritage. These days they are more known for building nice looking but ultimately disappointing cars. But back in the day they built cars such as these classics. I won't advertise my ignorance by trying to identify these cars, so just enjoy the pictures.

Beautiful Zagato bodied Giulietta Sprint. These cars are worth a bundle as only 44 Coda Tronca Sprints were built. (Only 200 Zagato Sprints were built in total.) It is thrilling to see such cars being driven around today.

These three famous cars are valued at US$15,000,000 and are owned by the Blackhawk Museum. It was amazing to see them out in the open air. The name doesn't refer to to the styling, or the 'bat wings', but is from the Italian "Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica."

Giocattolo Group B

I should have taken more photos of this, it's not as if they pop up at every intersection. Anyway, the Giocattolo was another example of the Aussie way of building cars : "too much engine and not enough car." See also Elfin & Bolwell on madwhips. Giocattolos were built in Queensland (an Australian state) in the mid eighties. The Giocattolo had the 5 litre V8 from Holden (General Motors) stuffed in behind the front seats. A mid-engined V8 supercar. This gave the car slightly less performance than the contemporary 911 Turbo. The guard flares were kevlar, and kevlar was used liberally...
