I was disappointed to see the A1GP series fold, it was a great concept providing fabulous racing. For those out of the loop, the idea was a World Cup of Motorsport where it was country against country. There was a number of drivers for each team, and these drivers alternated between races. The cars were identical so it was really down to driver ability. This provided really close, exciting racing and plenty of carnage. The races started with a rolling start and sound from above the pit garages was unforgettable. Just wonderful. The cars looked much better than F1 cars too. You can see how much access was available to the cars, drivers & garages, even for the great unwashed like myself. They raced at Eastern Creek racetrack in Sydney for only a couple of years.
