You can keep your Playboys & Penthouses, this will do me. This perfect very early 930 was at Eastern Creek racetrack, Sydney, today. Not racing, just parked. The chassis number on the registration label shows that it is chassis number 80, meaning that it was built in 1974 for the 1975 model year. I worked at Sydney's Porsche dealer when this car was new - I have photos of it that I took in 1975 - and the turbo was an absolute sensation back then. It was unbelievably fast, 260 horsepower remember, and it looked as if it had escaped from...

1976 Porsche 934

The Porsche 934 was the Group 4 racing version of the road-going 930 turbo. The engine is a single turbo 480 bhp (358 kW) 3 litre flat six. In 1977, modifications took it to 550 bhp. It's surprisingly close in spec to the standard 930, down to having electric windows, as can be seen in the interior photo. The added-on fender extensions were screwed onto the standard 930 flares, making it a spectacular looking piece of kit. This one was running at the Phillip Island (Australia) historic meeting in March 2007.

Porsche 935 K3

The Porsche 935 was the Group 5 racing version of the 930 turbo road car. The K3 was the ultimate development and was built by the Kremer brothers. Manfred and Erwin Kremer ran a Porsche dealership and in their spare time Erwin successfully raced Porsches prepared by Manfred. The three litre flat six engine was carried over from the factory built 935s, although in later years a slightly larger 3.2 litre engine was also offered. Depending on the boost level the twin-turbocharged engine was good for anywhere between 740 bhp and 800 bhp. Power was transferred to the rear wheels through...

1974 Paris Motor Show Porsche Turbo prototype

This is a very significant & almost mythical car. It is the 1974 Paris Motor Show Porsche Turbo prototype. It was built on the shell of a 1973 911S coupe. The chassis number shown on the sales sheet should have a 6 between 3 and 0. It's the first 911 to wear the bigger bumpers, turbo flares and a whale tail. As shown in Paris the car's engine had a real bottom end but the upper "turbo" plumbing was in fact made of wood. The car is often referred to as having a wooden engine, but this is not correct. The...
