The chassis number on the registration label shows that it is chassis number 80, meaning that it was built in 1974 for the 1975 model year. I worked at Sydney's Porsche dealer when this car was new - I have photos of it that I took in 1975 - and the turbo was an absolute sensation back then. The engine is a single turbo 480 bhp (358 kW) 3 litre flat six. In 1977, modifications took it to 550 bhp. It's surprisingly close in spec to the standard 930, down to having electric windows, as can be seen in the interior photo. The added-on fender extensions were screwed onto the standard 930 flares, making it a spectacular looking piece of kit. This one was running at the Phillip Island (Australia) historic meeting in March 2007. It is the 1974 Paris Motor Show Porsche Turbo prototype. It was built on the shell of a 1973 911S coupe. The chassis number shown on the sales sheet should have a 6 between 3 and 0. It's the first 911 to wear the bigger bumpers, turbo flares and a whale tail. As shown in Paris the car's engine had a real bottom end but the upper "turbo" plumbing was in fact made of wood.
