The function at Bentley Sydney was to meet Derek Bell and hear him speak about his racing career...3 wins at the Daytona 24 hours, FIVE wins at Le Mans, 2 World Sportscar Championships, Formula 1 and so much more. He worked on the movie "Le Mans" with Steve McQueen. He's a very entertaining speaker and a real car nut. He's been a consultant to Bentley since 2001 and has helped to develop the Bentley Le Mans racer, as well as the high performance variants of the Continental GT.

Mulsanne... Derek Bell... Bentley... this album is Sarthe-tastic! I met him very briefly at Goodwood a few years back and was just in awe of the low-profile way he talks about his achievements. it must have been very special to go to such a private event and hear from the man at length.

Yes, he's a really decent bloke and, as you say, very humble. I managed to get about 10 minutes with him, just me and the mate I went with. He speaks very enthusiastically about his favourite cars, favourite circuits, working on "Le Mans" the movie, his opinions on the Veyron vs McLaren F1, his large number of races down here - the Tasman Series, the World endurance Championships, Mt Panorama. That's me in the last pic in full sycophantic mode.

So what are his favourite cars? I've read at length about his love for the 956 before: "What can I say about the car that set me up for life?" The lady in the last pic does not look at all impressed with him!

He's had his beloved 924GTS for many years, says he'll never get rid of it. It features in some videos that he's been in. He also has a 550 Maranello, and as he has a share in a Bentley dealership in Naples, Florida he has a selection of Bentleys at his disposal.
