Are those indicator repeaters on the leading edge of the front guard?

Seems like it's just for the U.S. models. If I remember correctly, getting them legalised in the States was the main reason behind switching to the Toyota engine. I love Elises - such beautifully fluid things to drive.

Ah hah. That 'splains it. Yes indeedy, the one I rented for a weekend a few years back was a joy. Every kilometre was wonderful. But having said that, I wouldn't want one as an every day car. But for 2 days of thrashing through the back roads of the beautiful Hunter Valley north of Sydney I'd rather one of these than even a GT3. Say what?? Heresy!
